The Church Has Left the Building
Category: Missions
The Church Has Left the Building 2009 was a fantastic day of loving and serving our neighbors! Read more about 2010's Church Has Left the Building (coming up on July 25th, 2010) here.
On Sunday, July 26, WordServe will close its doors and together, we will go out into our community and serve. There will be no worship service, no WordServe Kids, no youth group activities. Instead, we will extend our reach outside of the building where we meet, helping our community and serving our neighbors.
For WordServe's first annual Church Has Left the Building, we will work on projects in
and around Huggins Elementary School. Huggins Elementary celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2009, and many parts of the building are in need of some TLC. With district resources stretched as new schools are being built, older schools can often be overlooked and forgotten. We want to help make Huggins Elementary School a great place for teachers to work and kids to learn. Projects for CHLB may include things like building new bookshelves, creating outdoor reading areas, landscaping, painting, cleaning, updating the playground, and putting together backpacks for students who may not be able to afford school supplies. There will be projects for kids of all ages, so every family can participate together! A nursery will be provided for children 3 years old and younger.
