The Fulshear community is full of caring people who want to help out when they hear of a neighbor in need. Habitat for Huggins is a project through WordServe Church and Fulshear Outreach and Development that is geared toward helping local families whose homes are in dire need of extensive renovation and repair. You can read more about how we began this project here.

We understand that there are many generous people in our community who would like to reach out and help these families. Because of the long-term ongoing nature of the project as well as the fact that WordServe Church meets in rented facilities, there are some very specific ways that someone can be a part of this service opportunity.

  • If you would like to participate in one of the workdays at the home site, you can find the latest workday information here. Work days will occur at regular, ongoing intervals until the project is completed. You can find out more information about the specific workday needs (e.g. skilled labor, painting, etc.) when you go to the sign-up page. You do not have to attend WordServe Church (or any church) to participate in a workday—you just have to sign up!

  • If you are a contractor with specific skills (e.g. framing) that you would like to donate, please contact the church via email at info@wordserve.org. Skilled labor services would be extremely helpful as we continue to rebuild this home.

  • If you would like to purchase building materials for the project, click the link below.

  • If you would like to help the family with a donation, gas cards for local gas stations are enormously helpful. Gift cards to local grocery stores will help them keep nutritious food on their table. You can mail gift cards for the family to WordServe Church at P.O. Box 787 Fulshear, TX 77441.

  • Although there are many material needs, WordServe is not equipped to accept/store/sort material donations (clothes, shoes, furniture, etc.). Additionally, the families have limited living space while we are repairing their homes.  There may be specific requests at specific times (e.g., a family recently donated a washer and dryer when we learned of the family’s need for those items), in which case, we will post information on this site. If you have items you wish to donate to families in need, there is a Goodwill donation store located on FM 1463.

It’s wonderful to live in a community of people who spring into action to help a neighbor in need. At WordServe Church, we want to guide people to grow as joyful servants of Jesus. One of the ways we do that is through projects just like this one (we call them Compassion Projects). We know that when we engage in meaningful relationships with the people around us, and specifically when we serve others, God works in our own lives to transform us and our community. WordServe Church offers multiple ways to engage in acts of service in and around our community and our world. If you would like to learn more, please email us at info@wordserve.org, call us at 281-455-5258, or join us on a Sunday morning at Shafer Elementary School at 9:45 AM.
