Serve
Serving others is an integral part of growing in our relationship with God and living out our faith. If we really are a people who are shaped by God’s Word, we must serve his world – the two things go hand-in-hand. God’s love has no borders, no ethnicity, no societal ranking – we are called to love his people in our own community and all around the world. Something powerful happens in our own lives when we serve others.
In the Bible, Jesus tells us he did not come to be served, but to serve (Mark 10). One way he demonstrated this was through the very humble act of washing his disciples' feet (John 13). At WordServe, we want to take the posture of foot-washers, humbling ourselves to serve in areas where perhaps no one else wants to. There will always be opportunities to serve others, whether it’s participating in one of our Serve Saturdays (the third Saturday of each month), helping in one of our ministry areas, or committing to a longer-term mission trip (at home or abroad).
Our dream is that WordServe would be known as the church that is always serving other people, and showing them God’s love through tangible actions. It is our hope that our missions initiatives will enable you to reach beyond your comfort zone, to reach out to people in need, to reach deeply into your own life, and, ultimately, to reach the ends of the earth with the transforming love of Jesus.
