The Power of God's Name by Tony Evans

To fully grasp the significance and power of knowing God's names, you first need to understand the context of names within biblical cultures. In Old Testament times a name was more than simply nomenclature. It was, rather, a replica and revelation of the individual or thing itself.

This study examines 11 names of God. The words translated as name show up over one thousand times in Scripture and routinely carry with them power, responsibility, purpose, and authority. A name not only expresses the essence and significance of what is being named but also—when duly authorized—accesses the capacity intrinsic within it. Because of God's depth of character, He has a variety of names to reflect His different capacities of relating to humanity. For example, God is called Elohim when referenced as the all-powerful Creator. When you need provision, get to know the name Jehovah Jireh, which means God, the Provider. God has a name for any and every situation you can find yourself in. Get to know the names of God because it is in knowing His character and His capacity that you will rest and discover both peace and power in His covenant care.

Benefits:
● Understand the meaning and power of God's names.
● Discover and appreciate God's multifaceted nature and character by focusing on a variety of His names in Scripture.
● Be encouraged to call on God through the names that speak to your needs.
● Grow spiritually through individual and group study.

We do a pot luck style dinner and kids of all ages are welcome to hang out & play while adults study.

Studying Romans, Part 1 by J.D. Greear (on RightNow Media).

The book of Romans is considered by many to be one of the most important books ever written on the Christian faith. Writing to Christians, the apostle Paul defines the gospel, explores its depths, and discusses its significance and implications for the Christian life.

We are a casual group of guys committed to growing in our faith together.  Our typical study involves a DVD segment from a recognized author followed by discussion that is both real and related to Scripture.  We also have regular social and service opportunities to make sure we're not all work and no play.  Come try us out!

Crossing The Waters by Leslie Leyland Fields

Get ready for the wettest, stormiest, wildest trip through the Gospels you’ve ever taken! The Gospels are dramatic and incredibly wet, set in a rich maritime culture on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Yet we’ve missed much of this perspective—until now.

In this 6-part series, Leslie Leyland Fields, author, speaker, and seasoned Alaskan fisherwoman, takes us on a journey through the life of Christ. She leads us across the waters of time and culture out onto the Sea of Galilee, through a rugged season of commercial fishing with her family in Alaska, and through the waters of the New Testament beside the ragtag fishermen disciples. Her own story and her fresh insights will challenge our understanding of Jesus and what it means to “Come, follow me.”

Women's Group - Mid-day Wednesday
Facilitated by: Cindy Haas
Type of group: Women’s Group
Time: Wednesdays, 10 – 12 a.m. on Zoom.* We have individuals who home-school their child(ren) and others who just find it more convenient to be able to get together online with their busy schedules. If you are interested in meeting with another person “live,” we can arrange that as well.

Looking for a women's group where you can attend during the day when things are not so hectic with family duties or other activities? This group is for all women where your stage in life and faith does not matter.

Our group has just completed the Isaiah study with Melissa Spoelstra. Her study methods are so wonderful, that we have decided to continue with another study she has to offer entitled

Jeremiah – Daring to Hope in an Unstable World by Melissa Spoelstra

This six-week study offers us encouragement and help for navigating the uncertainties and challenges of life. By examining God’s words of instruction to His wayward people through the prophet Jeremiah, we will discover six guidelines for living that can help us overcome fear, worry, doubt, and bitterness as we surrender our wills to God and put our hope in Him alone.

Melissa is a popular women’s conference speaker, Bible teacher, and writer who is passionate about helping women to know Christ more intimately through serious Bible study. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Bible Theology and enjoys teaching God’s Word to diverse groups and churches within the body of Christ. Melissa enjoys spending time with her pastor husband Sean and their four adult children.

Books are available through Amazon (best price) and are priced at $11.99 plus tax, with one-day shipping from Prime.

*We are offering in-home study location as well as Zoom for those who cannot meet in person. Contact Cindy Haas, facilitator, if you are interested at 713-817-7493.
