The Way Ahead

Dear WordSeve family,

I want to thank you for all that you've done.  To say we've crossed a significant milestone in the life of our church is a vast understatement.  We are experiencing one of the most significant changes in Methodism in our lifetime, maybe in over a century.  Such gigantic steps are never easy.

But you've handled it with grace, prayer, discussions, and truth.  And while some may be hurting, it was not a process designed to hurt, nor was it carried out in a hurtful way.  That's a testament to your ability to remain in Christ while experiencing trying times, so thank you for doing the delicate balancing act of walking in both grace and truth.  My prayer now is to let the healing begin and the journey continue to new heights.

That said, I want to thank you for all that you WILL do.  It's easy to look at a time like this and think we've crossed the finish line as we join a new denomination.  In reality, we've just crossed the starting line and there's a race to be run for a prize that is not of this earth.  My prayer going forward is that we would take this opportunity to expand the good news in our community and world.  The world desperately needs to meet the one who can bring a peace that passes understanding.

I can't tell you what's ahead WordServe.  Opportunities often look like work and take us outside our comfort zones.  But I do know this, the God who has called us and brought us this far will not abandon us.  The only question now is, will we follow where He leads?

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”

(Galatians 6:9–10 ESV)

I'm looking forward to the journey with the WordServe family, wherever He leads!
